Diwali is perhaps our favourite festival, and it’s coming up soon. With our high-paying occupations and hectic schedules, we are suddenly unable to prepare our homes for Diwali 2021. And that’s why we’ve chosen to simplify your job.
Follow these simple instructions to get your home ready for Diwali this year.
Clean up the common spaces:
The first step, regardless of where you begin, is to clean. To begin with, clean your living room (or at least the most apparent areas of it) as well as the guest bathroom. You’ll see the most traffic here. Then proceed to the kitchen, terrace/balcony, bedrooms and other sections of your home. Clean your windows, dust your furniture, wash your linens, and spot clean your upholstery. Also, remember to clean your fans, light fixtures, and appliances while you’re at it.
Add a touch of Rangoli:
The coming of the Diwali season is signalled by a gorgeous rangoli on your doorstep. This year, don’t be afraid to get creative with your rangoli and add flower petals, organic colours, and grains for the design.
Rangolis play a vital role in practically every Indian family, and not just during festivals. Colourful and lovely rangolis made with diyas and flower petals are always a visual delight. It also creates an upbeat and happy mood.
Light it up!
Diwali is a festival of lights, and the more lights you have in your house, the brighter it will appear—both literally and metaphorically. Earthen lamps, diyas, fragrant candles, fairy lights, and LED lights can be used to brighten up your home.
Having a lighting choice or two in unexpected locations can get you brownie points! For a dreamy, festive aesthetic, put lanterns on the side and the stairs if you have a hallway. Lights contribute to a warm and joyful atmosphere associated with Diwali. Fairy lights, diyas, candles, and lanterns are just a few examples. The sky’s the limit when it comes to your imagination.
Flowers are your best friends:
During the Diwali season, seasonal flowers such as rose petals and marigolds are popular decorations. Bringing in as many flowers as you can to liven up your home this Diwali is a quick and easy method to decorate.
Flowers offer a sense of vibrancy and freshness to your home when utilised as garlands or in vases/ceramics. You may put up an uruli on display, filled with water and flowers and diyas floating in it.
Add in more colours:
Diwali is all about the vibrant colours of the season, such as green, red, and yellow. Bring on the same vibrancy in your house through the textiles of your drapes, lampshades, curtains, cushions, and rugs. Changing the drapes, upholstery, and coverings in your living room is a great way to update the style. If nothing is possible, a quick pillow makeover can save your day. Cover them in bold patterns and colours, and watch how they instantly brighten up the spaces.
